About me
I've had a passion for tech & computers since forever, graduated high school with a focus on MINT and afterwards studied mechatronics/engineering (and worked in the Formula Student Electric team to design & build an electric race car), then decided after getting bored in mechanics but excelling in programming courses to go into software development instead. That was in 2015 and since I have been working as a developer, in-office and later remotely from Belgium and Germany. While I have dabbled with a few languages, I'm mostly experienced in .NET, but always open to explore new technologies. In the last years I have been growing into a more senior role, trying to improve code quality by mentoring colleagues and also tip-toeing a bit into devops, but I really feel energized by solving more technical IC challenges. In my spare time I have also explored different Linux flavors (notably Qubes OS), networking (openwrt), server administration (Proxmox VE) and static, js-less websites. If you want to know more about my professional experience you can read my CV.
Outside of work I try to learn new things (and spent too much time on HN), want to get back into my regular yoga practice and I can't wait for summer to discover Berlin on quad skates. I'm also a helpless music addict.
What is my ideal working environment?
In no particular order:- engineering-driven
- cooperation above competition
- skilled colleagues
- focus on creating great products and real (not just monetary) value
- hiring people instead of filling roles
- remote-first (office-option would be on my own terms: because I want to, not because I have to)
- challenging but not draining: gives me energy instead of taking it
- modern tech stack & no-bullshit practices
- learning opportunities
- honesty & transparency
- flexible policies regarding how people work
- focus on output over appearing busy
- discourages working overtime
- normalizes a 4-day-week
